La/A Coruña is located about 45 miles north of Santiago de Compostela on the Northern coast of Galicia. The University of A Coruña was formed as part of the University of Santiago de Compostela and became an independent public university in 1989. A Coruña definitely has more of a “city feel” than Santiago de Compostela but the University of A Coruña doesn’t have the same presence in the city (mostly because the campuses are on the outskirts of the city) and it’s reputation isn’t equal to that of University of Santiago de Compostela.

If you are a student in the European Union, the University de A Coruña does offer exchanges through Erasmus. Something else worth noting is that although both Castilian Spanish and Galician are the school’s official languages, the latter is the institutional language.Click here to visit the university’s website.
